Bob

So Bob's not my uncle but I'm going to stay with him anyway...my first place of residence is going to Bob's Youth Hostel...it looks like a great place and has lots of extras included. Only wish I could stay through the weekend but there arent' any rooms (well, beds really) on Saturday night so I'm going to the Meeting Place Hostel and then I'll see where the wind blows me.

Making a list, checking it twice; 3 times, 4 times? What am I forgetting?

I have this great list to check off in my new travel journal but I'm still certain that I'm going to forget something...I keep mentally cataloguing my belongings - these pants? how many shirts? Don't' forget flip-flops for the shower. don't forget my towel (everyone should always know where their towel is). batteries, must remember batteries...must remember battery charger - must remember to buy rechargeable batteries...it's never ending.

If you speak 3 out of 4 languages in tourist phrasing, are you still multi-lingual?

Although I've been told that most people speak english in Amsterdam I still feel as though I should make the effort to learn some of the language...here is a site that I found for Dutch phrases:
http://www.smartphrase.com/Dutch/du_general_words_phr.shtml

Of course you're all probably wondering why I don't just buy a Dutch phrase book as I work at a bookstore but this way I don't have to carry it with me.

It's Official!!!

I went down to the passport office today and confirmed that everything is going according to Hoyle and that I will actually be allowed to leave the North American continent and then when I got home I jumped onto AirTransat's websitehttp://www.airtransat.com and booked my flight. Forget the $607 that I was rhapsodizing about last week - my ticket (round trip), including taxes is only $556.84!!!! Can you believe it?? I can't even get to B.C. to see my mom for that. At 7:55pm on Sept. 15/04 I will be winging my way across the Atlantic to Europe!!!!

Getting ready to go - 30 days & counting

Just getting all of the details out of the way - not just the little ones as I haven't actually finalized a thing. My trip was delayed (almost cancelled) but due to my pushy parental units in Peterborough (love you Papa & Mumly) I am headed for KZ's big adventure to Amsterdam!

Waiting for a plane (not a train or automobile)

Just getting all of my air fare prices and it looks like Air Transat is
going to cut me a great deal on my flight - $607 w/taxes!
