Rijks Museum

Yes, I am finally posting more entries to catch up from my trip. One of the last touristy things that I did was to go to the Rijks Museum, which is where Rembrandt, VerMeer and the other old masters are. Was hoping to see more Rembrandt - although once I started looking around, I was wishing that there were more VerMeers instead - so next time will actually have to go the Rembrandt's House. Still, again always a neat experience to see amazing art. I'll say one thing for Rembrandt, his technique was flawless - you could always spot his work amongst everyone else's. Of course not very many artists paint such large canvasses either. But I definitely prefer VerMeer to Rembrandt - it's the use of colour again - apparently I'm a colour junkie. One other artist that also caught my eye was Pieter Saenredam - he does all these amazing paintings (usually of church interiors) where the perspective doesn't disappear in the usual places - I just loved his work.
